Lahore/Murree: Tourism in Murree is poised for a major transformation as the Punjab government has approved feasibility studies for two landmark attractions — a Sky Walk Glass Bridge worth Rs72.152 million and a Chairlift & Cable Car project from Lakot to Pindi Point costing Rs90 million.
The approval came during a meeting of the Provincial Development Working Party (PDWP), chaired by Planning & Development Board Chairman Dr. Naeem Rauf. Officials confirmed that the projects aim to boost domestic and international tourism in Murree by introducing modern attractions that align with global travel trends.
The PDWP also sanctioned another major tourism initiative — a Cable Car at River Indus in Kala Bagh, Mianwali — with a feasibility cost of Rs81.571 million. Alongside, several development schemes worth Rs5.118 billion were cleared, covering roads, minority affairs, and IT.
Among these were the construction of a new road from Danda Shah Bilawal to Ghool via Lawa in Chakwal (Rs1.374 billion), the Chief Minister’s Minority Development Programme (Rs1 billion), a feasibility study for a theme park in Lahore (Rs200 million), and the Accelerate Punjab Startups Tech Programme (Rs2.3 billion).
The meeting was attended by key officials, including Secretary P&D Board Rafaqat Ali, Secretary Tourism Raja Jahangir, Secretary Minorities Affairs Farid Ahmad, Chief Economist Masood Anwar, and other senior members.
