Pakistan and Bangladesh have signed a landmark agreement allowing visa-free travel for holders of diplomatic and official passports, along with several other accords aimed at strengthening bilateral ties.
The agreements, finalized during the visit of Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar to Dhaka, cover cooperation in trade, culture, education, media, academic exchanges, and diplomatic training.
The Foreign Office said the new arrangements will “institutionalize and further strengthen bilateral collaboration” between the two South Asian neighbors.
This development mirrors Pakistan’s recent accord with the UAE, which also granted visa exemptions for diplomatic and official passport holders and came into effect on July 27, 2025.
During his Bangladesh trip, Dar—accompanied by Commerce Minister Jam Kamal Khan—attended a reception hosted by Pakistan’s High Commissioner in Dhaka, Imran Haider. He also met government advisers, political leaders, academics, think tank representatives, journalists, artists, sports figures, and retired officials.
Speaking at the event, Dar emphasized that Pakistan and Bangladesh share deep cultural, historical, and religious bonds, reaffirming Islamabad’s resolve to build a cooperative and forward-looking partnership with Dhaka.
