Islamabad — Authorities in the federal capital have once again banned the sale and use of plastic horns, locally known as baaja, warning of strict legal consequences for violators.
In a post on social media platform X (formerly Twitter), Islamabad Deputy Commissioner Irfan Nawaz Memon said the sale and use of the horns has been prohibited across the city.
“A ban has been imposed on the sale and use of horns in the federal capital. Legal action will be taken in case of violation,” Memon warned.
The decision comes as part of efforts to curb noise pollution and public nuisance, especially during celebratory events and gatherings.
This is not the first time Islamabad has enforced such a restriction. A similar ban was imposed in August last year, also targeting the excessive use of noisy plastic horns in public spaces.
City officials are expected to conduct inspections in markets and public areas to ensure compliance. Those found selling or using the banned horns could face fines or other legal penalties under local regulations.
