Pakistan reaffirms commitment to ending torture, condemns abuses in Palestine and IIOJK

On the occasion of the International Day in Support of Victims of Torture, Pakistan has reiterated its unwavering stance against torture in all its forms and voiced solidarity with victims around the world, particularly in the Occupied Palestinian Territories and Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK).

In a statement issued by the Foreign Office, Pakistan strongly condemned the use of torture and inhumane treatment by occupying forces, emphasizing its firm commitment to upholding human dignity and eliminating such practices through legal reform and institutional safeguards.

“Torture has no place in any just society,” the statement read, adding that such acts are fundamentally incompatible with the values of justice, mercy, and compassion—principles deeply rooted in Islamic teachings.

The statement further highlighted that Islam upholds the sanctity and dignity of every human life, and that any form of cruel or degrading treatment stands in clear contradiction to these core values.

Pakistan emphasized its ongoing efforts to strengthen accountability through enhanced legal frameworks, improved oversight mechanisms, and comprehensive support systems for victims—including medical, legal, and psychological assistance.

The country also expressed grave concern over the continued and systematic use of torture in occupied regions, particularly in Palestine and IIOJK, where such abuse is used to suppress the legitimate right to self-determination.

Calling on the global community to act, Pakistan urged international institutions to hold the responsible parties accountable and intensify efforts to protect the rights and well-being of those suffering under occupation.
