ISLAMABAD – The Provincial Development Working Party (PDWP) has approved a total of Rs 96 billion for various development initiatives, including the protection and restoration of gurdwaras, churches, and temples.
The decision was made during the 19th PDWP meeting, chaired by Dr. Naeem Rauf, Chairman of the Planning and Development Board. Out of the total allocation, Rs 1.5 billion has been specifically earmarked for the preservation of religious sites across the province.
In addition, Rs 22.47 billion has been approved to improve sewage systems and floodwater drainage in cities such as Khanewal, Kamunki, Vehari, and Wazirabad. A major portion of the budget, Rs 72 billion, will go toward the development of model villages in Lahore, D.G. Khan, Sargodha, Bahawalpur, Rawalpindi, Multan, Gujranwala, and Sahiwal. These model villages aim to enhance urban infrastructure and overall living standards.
The meeting was attended by Rafaqat Ali, Secretary of the Planning and Development Board, along with other officials, who reviewed and approved the projects to ensure timely execution.
